Anton Schweitzer od H. E. Wintera

Anton Schweitzer (6. června 1735 v Coburg - 23. listopadu 1787 v Gotha ) byl německý skladatel opery, který byl spojen s Abel Seyler je divadelní společnost.

Byl to zázračné dítě, které získalo záštitu vévody z Vídně Saxe-Hildburghausen, který ho poslal studovat Jakob Friedrich Kleinknecht u soudu v Bayreuth v roce 1758, a poté ho poslal do Itálie (1764–1766) a udělal ho Dirigent. S propuštěním dvorního orchestru v Hildburghausen, mu bylo umožněno cestovat po Evropě s Seylerova divadelní společnost z roku 1769. Jeho nejvýznamnějším dílem je opera Alceste (1773), s Němcem libreto podle Christoph Martin Wieland, mezi rané němčiny oper.[1]
