The Hvězdné mistrovství světa jsou mezinárodní plachtění regaty v Třída hvězd pořádá International Star Class Yacht Racing Association schváleno Mezinárodní plachetní federace.[1]
Americký námořník Lowell North získal nejvíce titulů, s pěti tituly v letech 1945 až 1973 a dalšími sedmi pódii. Brazilská posádka Bruno Prada vyhrál také pět titulů v letech 2007 až 2019. Nejvíce korunovanými kombinacemi kapitánů a posádek je italské duo Agostino Straulino a Nicolò Rode a brazilské duo Robert Scheidt a Bruno Prada, každý se třemi tituly. Bill Buchan, Jr. má tři tituly, ale s odlišnou posádkou.
Největší počet šampionátů, 55 vydání, vyhráli američtí námořníci, následovali brazilští námořníci se sedmi tituly a italští námořníci se šesti tituly a Německo s pěti.
Několik vítězů má mezi sebou rodinné vztahy, např. dvojnásobný vítěz Mark Reynolds a vítězná posádka 1971 James Reynolds, Šampion z roku 1992 Carl Buchan a trojnásobný vítěz Bill Buchan, Jr., Vítěz z roku 1969 Pelle Pettersson a jeho zetě z roku 1988 Paul Cayard a vítězný pár otec a syn v letech 1954 a 1955 Carlos de Cárdenas a Carlos de Cárdenas, Jr.
Hvězda byla olympijskou třídou od roku 1932 do roku 2012, s výjimkou roku 1976, kdy byla nahrazena Bouře.
Dějiny
Konaly se první hvězdné mistrovství světa Centrální Long Island Sound v roce 1923 a pořádá Bayside Yacht Club, Washington Yacht Club a Jachtařský klub Manhasset Bay. O trofej bojovalo osm lodí a vítězem se stala jachta Býk s William Inslee a Robert Nelson západní Long Island Sound flotily.[2]
První roky se všechna mistrovství konala v Severní Americe a účastnili se jich většinou američtí námořníci; první mistrovství konaná mimo Severní Ameriku byla v roce 1939 v roce Kiel, Německo.
