The Lancashire Cup byl Angličtina Ragbyový fotbalový svaz soutěž založená v roce 1971. Pořádala ji Lancashire Rugby Football Union a byl otevřen všem způsobilým klubům v EU Lancashire region včetně řady klubů v Cheshire a Merseyside. Soutěž mužů byla přerušena na konci roku 2013, protože nebylo dost týmů ochotných se zúčastnit poháru (částečně kvůli zvýšeným požadavkům ligového ragby).[1]

Dějiny

Přestože byla Lancashire RFU založena v roce 1881 a má nejúspěšnější krajský tým v zemi, klubové ragbyové svazy se v Lancashire uchytily dlouho. Zatímco hořcí soupeři Yorkshire měl ustavenou krajskou klubovou soutěž (dále jen "soutěž") Yorkshire Cup ), který fungoval od roku 1878, neměl Lancashire obdobnou soutěž až do roku 1971. Tento nedostatek soutěžního ragby znamenal, že Lancashire měl ve srovnání se svým protějškem menší členství v klubech. Některé ze současných soutěžících klubů se zdají být založeny mimo Lancashire, například Liverpool St Helens a Waterloo, ale když byla založena Lancashire RFU, místa jako Merseyside a Liverpool byly součástí kraje a tyto týmy si zachovaly své členství.
