Helixanthera je středně velký rod nápadné jmelí s více než 40 druhy z tropické Afriky, jižní Asie a Malesie.[1][2] Rod byl popsán již v roce 1790 portugalským botanikem João de Loureiro v jeho Flora Cochinchinensis. Nový druh, Helixanthera schizocalyx, byl popsán v roce 2010.[3]
