Gerres je rod z mojarras vyskytují se většinou v pobřežních oblastech od východu Atlantický oceán skrz Indický oceán na západ Pacifik. Jediný druh, G. simillimus, je z východního Pacifiku. Obývají hlavně sůl a brakický vody, ale vstoupí do sladké vody.
