Diamanty je hudební revue o baseballu. Knihu a hudbu vytvořilo mnoho spisovatelů, skladatelů a textařů. Mezi nimi byla Ellen Fitzhugh, Roy Blount, Jr., a John Weidman (rezervovat); a Larry Grossman, Comden a Green, Howard Ashman, a Cy Coleman, hudba.[1]
Muzikál běžel Off Broadway na Kruh na náměstí Downtown divadlo, počínaje 16. prosince 1984 a končící 31. března 1985, po 122 představeních. Produkci režíroval Broadway veterán Harold Prince. Obsazení zahrnuto Loni Ackerman Susan Bigelow, Jackée Harry Scott Holmes, Dick Latessa Dwayne Markee, Wade Raley, Larry Riley, Nestor Serrano, Gordon Stanley a Chip Zien.
Muzikál vyhrál Outer Critics Circle Award za nejlepší scénografii Tony Straiges.

Kritická odpověď
The Los Angeles Times citoval několik recenzí díla. „Je to hit? Bude to běhat? Frank Rich z New York Times zvlášť si to nemyslel. Clive Barnes z New York Post rozhodně si to nemyslel: „Fiasko nejmenšího a nejtupějšího druhu. Řekni, že to tak není, Hale. “ Ale Denní zprávy Doug Watt si myslel, že přehlídka má nějaké roztomilé nápady, například její kabuki ve stylu „Casey at the Bat“. Jeho finální verdikt: „Zavolej 'Diamonds' homerem Little League a nech to tak být. '“[2]
