Sthenoteuthis je rod malých chobotnice, se dvěma druhy, část podčeleď Ommastrephinae v rámci rodina Ommastrephidae „létající chobotnice“. Jsou dominantním druhem létajících olihní v tropických a subtropických mořích světa a běžně je lze vidět na povrchu oceánu během noci. Jejich velikost se pohybuje od plášť délky od 100 mm do 600 mm.[2]

- Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis (Lekce, 1830)
- Sthenoteuthis pteropus (Steenstrup, 1855)
