The Brouci tmavého dehtu (Somaticus) jsou Afrotropické rod potemní brouci (Tenebrionidae). Dospělí jsou všežravý mrchožrouti a larvy, známé jako Falešní červise živí kořeny rostlin.[2] Je známo, že larvy několika druhů poškozují plodiny kukuřice.[3] Dospělí jsou matně černí s podélnými hřebeny na pronotum a elytra a mohou být pokrytí chlupy různých barev.[2]
