Sabethes komáři jsou primárně stromový rod, chov v rostlinné dutiny.[1] The druh druhu je Sabethes zajímá, poprvé popsal Jean-Baptiste Robineau-Desvoidy v roce 1827.[2]
Obvykle jsou nápadně zdobeny lesklými kovovými šupinami.[3][4] The antény žen některých Sabethes druhy mají dlouhé, husté, bičíkovité přesleny připomínající samce většiny ostatních rodů komárů.[4]
Sabethes druhy komárů se vyskytují v Centrální a Jižní Amerika.[5]
Lékařský význam
Sabethes chloropterus byl nalezen infikován Virus encefalitidy St. Louis a virus Ilhéus a přenáší virus žluté zimnice lidem.[1][6]
