Parathalassius je rod letí v rodině Dolichopodidae. Nachází se podél písečných mořských pobřeží v obou Palearktické a Nearctic říše.[1] Název "Parathalassius„je z řecký původu a lze jej přeložit jako „blízko moře“.[2]
