Leigh Ashtonová Ray Strachey[1]

Sir Arthur Leigh Bolland Ashton FSA[2] (1897–1983) byl britský historik umění a režisér Victoria and Albert Museum.

Časný život

Ashton byl synem právníka A. J. Ashtona KC, soudního zapisovatele v Manchesteru. Byl vzdělaný v Winchester College a Balliol College v Oxfordu.[3]

Kariéra

V roce 1945 byl jmenován ředitelem Victoria and Albert Museum, převzetí od Eric Maclagan.[3]

Ashton odešel do důchodu v roce 1955 a byl následován Trenchard Cox.[3]

Osobní život

V roce 1952 se oženil s módním editorem a akademikem Madge Garland, v Sňatek z rozumu.[3] Rozvedli se v roce 1962 a neměli žádné děti.[4]
