Gerhard P. Bassler je německo-kanadský spisovatel a profesor. Specializuje se na německou a kanadskou historii migrace.[1] Jeho kniha Vikings to U-Boats: the German Experience in Newfoundland and Labrador získal cenu Rogers Cable Non-Fiction Award, která je součástí Newfoundland Book Awards.[2][3]

Život

Bassler se narodil ve Stuttgartu v Německu v roce 1937.[4] Získal doktorát v evropské a americké historii od University of Kansas.[5] V roce 1965 emigroval do Newfoundlandu.[6] Bassler byl profesorem historie na Memorial University of Newfoundland od roku 1965 do roku 2002.[4] V roce 2003 se stal emeritním profesorem na Memorial University.[7]
