Dějiny

Okres Romorantin-Lanthenay byl vytvořen v roce 1800, rozpuštěn v roce 1926 a obnoven v roce 1943.[3] V roce 2007 absorbovala kanton Saint-Aignan z okrsek Blois.[3] Při reorganizaci obvodů Loir-et-Cher v lednu 2017 získalo 17 obcí z okrsek Blois a ztratila tři obce kvůli okrsku Blois.[4] V lednu 2019 získala komunu Courmemin z okrsku Romorantin-Lanthenay.[5]

V důsledku reorganizace kantony Francie který vstoupil v platnost v roce 2015, hranice kantonů již nesouvisí s hranicemi okrsků. Kantony okresu Romorantin-Lanthenay byly od ledna 2015:[6]
