Appletons ' cestovat průvodce byly publikovány D. Appleton & Company z New Yorku.[1][2] Série průvodců po železniční dopravě ve Spojených státech začala ve 40. letech 20. století. Brzy poté vydala další sérii příruček pro turisty ve Spojených státech, Evropě, Kanadě a Latinské Americe.[3]
